A little slice of wilderness right here in Ohio between Cleveland and Columbus. Mohican State Park and State Forest is a wonderful little getaway from the cities. Hike through the woods and you won’t even remember you’re in Ohio; or go camping in a tree house or a cabin on the lake; or go canoeing at Ohio’s canoe capital.
With over 10,000 acres of trails, waterfalls, caves, gorges and more, the park is one of, if not the most popular park in the state of Ohio. Located just over an hour southeast of Ohio’s capitol, Columbus, this is the crown jewel of the state.
Cuyahoga Valley National Park (Kai-a-hoga), or CVNP to most, is often forgot about due to it being located in Ohio. Cuyahoga Valley encompasses roughly 33,000 acres between the major cities of Cleveland and Akron, with the Cuyahoga River winding through it.
